About Calendula: Calendula belongs to the daisy family of plants and is mostly found in region spreading from Asia to Mediterranean. The word Calendula is originated from a Latin word ‘kalendae’ which means first day of the month. Invariably this plant also blooms in starting of every calendar month of the year. Calendula Oil is excellent for our skin and hence is used as a base for many skincare cosmetic products and oils. It has a warm earthy floral aroma.

History of Calendula: Benefits of Calendula were known to mankind since ancient times. It was primary used for cooking and for its other medical benefits. The yellow colour petals of the calendula flower were used in salad dressings giving it a vibrant colour. Romans were known to mix calendula with vinegar and used it a seasoning for meat and poultry.

Also at times it was used as a replacement of saffron in different cuisines.  Calendula was also popular known as ‘Mary’s Gold’ and used to be offered Virgin Mary’s statue in her honour. In the Indian subcontinent garlands made from Calendula are still being used as offerings to different deities.
