About Grape seed: Vitis vinifera which is commonly referred to as ‘the common grape vine’ is a native plant to Mediterranean region, central Europe and South West Asia. This vine usually grows up to 35 meters in length and bears berry like fruits known as grapes. The fruits are dark purple to black in colour and have a diameter of around 6mm. The seeds of these grapes as used to extract oil which is known as grape seed oil.

History of Grape seed: The association of human with plants started probably since the start of our race. The presence of vitis vinifera has been dated way back to some 200 million years. However the domesticated forms of grapes have been known to be available between 3500 to 3000 BC. The first written historical evidence reveals that grape popularly used around 3rd millennium BC.  Grapes had lot of economic value and importance till the 7th century in the region of Middle-East. Grapes are also known to have followed European colonies all around the world.

Properties of Grape seed Oil: Grape seed oil is mostly used as a carrier oil as it is odourless and gets easily absorbed in the skin. The Oil is obtained by pressing seeds of the grapes . The major chemical constituents of this essential oil include: Linoleic acid, Palmatic acid, Palmitoleic, Stearic, Oleic, Icosanoic, Icosenoic, Docosanoic, Alpha Linoleic, etc.
